Gunold FILAINE™ is a unique wool-look embroidery thread made from 100% acrylic. Designed to reproduce the appearance and texture of traditional wool embroidery, FILAINE creates a distinctive retro, vintage and handmade embroidery effect while being suitable for high-speed, multi-head embroidery machines.

With its thick 12 wt. construction and wool-like appearance, FILAINE is ideal for adding texture and dimension to embroidery designs. It works particularly well on knitwear, wool garments, chenille, ethnic-inspired clothing, folk costumes and decorative embroidery.

Needle Recommendation

For best results, use a 90/14 embroidery needle when sewing with Gunold FILAINE 12 wt. Due to its thicker, wool-like construction, selecting an appropriate needle helps support smooth thread passage and consistent embroidery results.

Care Instructions

Washing

  • Wash embroidered articles with mild laundering agents whenever possible.
  • If stronger detergents are required, avoid products containing chlorine, peroxide or other bleaching agents that may affect embroidery colors.
  • When hand washing, use plenty of water to allow the garment to move freely and rinse thoroughly.
  • Rinse embroidered items thoroughly before wringing or spin drying.
  • Do not leave embroidered garments in a damp pile after washing.

Dry Cleaning & Stain Removal

  • Use care when dry cleaning embroidered garments.
  • Stain removers should not contain bleaching agents or color-removing chemicals when applied directly to embroidery.
  • Rinse the embroidered area thoroughly after stain removal.

Ironing

  • Iron embroidered garments from the reverse side or place a protective cloth between the iron and the embroidery.

Drying

  • Tumble dry on a low setting.
