B0421S04A Single Fold Bias Binder 28mm for Babylock Coverstitch, Evolve, Evolution, Ovation & Gloria

The Baby Lock Single Fold Bias Binder (28mm), part number B0421S04A, is a specialized accessory designed to transform fabric strips into clean, professional single-fold bindings in a single, efficient step. This attachment is engineered for use with various Baby Lock coverstitch and combination machines, streamlining the process of finishing edges by folding the top edge of a 28mm-wide bias strip while leaving the lower edge straight.
The precise guide channel ensures the fabric feeds evenly, resulting in a consistent, crisp finish that is flatter than double-fold alternatives. This binder is indispensable for projects requiring high-quality, ready-to-wear results, such as activewear, children’s clothing, or decorative trims. When using this accessory, the machine settings are critical: the sewing table must be attached, the cutting blade should be in the locked (disengaged) position, and the sewing speed should be set to moderate or slow to maintain precision. By using a wide or triple coverstitch, you ensure the fabric is securely enclosed, providing both durability and a polished aesthetic. For best results, woven fabrics such as broadcloth or lightweight denim are recommended, and the bias strip should be cut to 1-3/8 inches (approx. 35mm) wide.Sewing Applications
-
Neckline Binding: Provides a clean, flat finish for crew or round necklines on t-shirts and knit garments.
-
Armhole Finishing: Creates uniform, decorative edges on sleeveless garments, ensuring the binding stays flat and doesn't twist.
-
Decorative Hems: Ideal for adding contrast edging or stabilizing hems on activewear and children’s apparel for a professional, durable finish.
Recommended Application Methods
-
Preparation: Feed your bias strip into the binder attachment with the wrong side facing you.
-
Positioning: Use tweezers to pull the folded strip through the guide, up to the needles, and under the presser foot.
-
Securing: Turn the handwheel to take a few initial stitches to anchor the fabric, then ensure the attachment is aligned so the right needle catches the doubled fold.
-
Testing: Always perform a test sew on scrap fabric of the same weight before starting your project to verify perfect alignment.

Safety Precautions
-
Finger Safety: Always use tweezers to feed the fabric strip into the guide. Never use your fingers to push the fabric directly into the needles.
-
Blade Safety: Ensure the cutting blade is strictly in the locked or disengaged position before sewing, as operating with the blade engaged can destroy your binding and fabric.
-
Test Sew Mandatory: Do not skip the test sew; failing to align the attachment correctly can cause needle breakage or damage to your actual project fabric.
