Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ Walking Foot Sewing Machine
Looking for a portable walking foot sewing machine for canvas, sailcloth repairs or upholstery? The Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ combines straight lockstitch and zigzag stitching in a mechanical machine designed for a range of heavy-material sewing applications.
Its walking-foot feeding system works with the feed dog to help move fabric layers through the stitch area. It is worth considering for suitable marine canvas projects, cushion covers, equipment bags and other layered-material sewing tasks.
Enquire with Ban Soon Sewing Machine through sewing.sg for availability and package details. For best results, test your actual fabric layers, thread and seam thickness before starting your project.
Power Supply Information
The supplied product information describes a dual-voltage arrangement:
- Machine power specification: 110 V, 50/60 Hz.
- 220 V operation: A converter is specified for 220 V, 50/60 Hz.
Important electrical check: Confirm the exact machine, converter and power configuration supplied with your unit before connecting it to a Singapore power outlet. Do not connect a 110 V machine directly to 220–240 V mains unless the supplied equipment is specifically rated for it. A voltage converter may not provide frequency conversion.
Recommended Project Applications
- Marine canvas: Suitable projects may include boat covers, dodgers and canvas panels when the material assembly is within the machine's capability.
- Sailcloth repairs: Straight and zigzag stitching can be useful for appropriate sailcloth seams and patches. Test the assembled fabric layers before sewing.
- Upholstery: Consider for selected boat, RV and home cushion covers made from compatible upholstery fabric or vinyl.
- Canvas bags: Suitable designs may include totes, tool bags and equipment covers with layered seams.
- Zipper replacement: Can be considered for covers and cushions when the fabric thickness, zipper foot and needle position are appropriate.
- Piping and binding: Selected projects may benefit from compatible cording feet or binder attachments.
What Makes the Ultrafeed LSZ Different?
- Straight and zigzag stitch options: Unlike the straight- stitch-only Ultrafeed LS, the LSZ offers adjustable zigzag stitching for applications that call for it.
- Walking-foot feeding: The moving presser foot works with the feed dog to help feed layered material through the machine.
- Portable machine format: The carrying case supports storage and transport between workspaces. The machine is substantial equipment rather than an ultra-lightweight domestic sewing machine.

Operator Maintenance Guide
Switch off and unplug the machine before cleaning, oiling or changing parts. Brush lint and thread fragments from the feed dog, needle plate and bobbin or shuttle area. Replace bent, blunt or damaged needles, and check the threading, bobbin seating and visible belt condition before sewing.
Lubricate only the metal-to-metal points identified in the applicable guidebook, using suitable sewing machine oil. The supplied maintenance guidance suggests checking lubrication approximately every eight hours of use, before storage or when operation sounds rough. Do not oil the motor, electrical controls or belts unless the manufacturer specifically instructs you to do so. Wipe away excess oil and test on scrap material.
Keep the machine dry and covered. In marine or humid conditions, follow the manufacturer's corrosion-protection instructions. Never force a jammed handwheel. Stop using the machine if you hear unusual noises, experience repeated needle strikes or continue to get skipped stitches after basic checks; arrange inspection if needed.

Needle and material compatibility: Needle size, point style, thread size, presser-foot clearance and the total thickness of the material all affect sewing performance. Confirm the specifications against the supplied machine's guidebook and test on a representative sample.
Basic Replacement and Repair Checks
- Switch off and unplug. Remove the work and check for trapped thread, a damaged needle or an incorrectly seated bobbin case. Do not force the handwheel or moving parts.
- Needle replacement. Follow the instructions for the exact machine generation. Remove the old needle and fit the correct replacement in the specified orientation, ensuring it is fully seated before tightening the needle screw.
- Bobbin-case replacement. Use a compatible case and follow the applicable guidebook for removing and installing it. Confirm that it is fully seated and correctly retained before testing.
- Clearance check. Turn the handwheel slowly by hand to check for interference before reconnecting power. Stop immediately if the needle contacts metal or the mechanism binds.
- Professional servicing. Leave hook damage, persistent timing faults and electrical repairs to a qualified technician. Verify the fitted drive system before ordering belts or Posi-Pin components.

Common Troubleshooting Checks
- Skipped stitches: Check needle installation, needle condition and residue first. Presser-foot pressure, material handling, hook condition or timing may also need attention.
- Thread snagging or breakage: Check the thread path and needle, then inspect accessible hook and bobbin areas for trapped thread or visible damage. Have damaged components assessed by a technician.
- Jamming or binding: Unplug the machine, remove trapped thread and check bobbin-case seating. If the mechanism remains tight or the needle strikes metal, stop and arrange service.
Does the Ultrafeed LSZ sew both straight and zigzag stitches?
Yes. The LSZ offers straight lockstitch and zigzag options, unlike the straight-stitch-only Ultrafeed LS.
Is it suitable for canvas, sails and upholstery?
These are intended application areas, but suitability depends on the complete material assembly, thread, needle and seam thickness. Test a representative sample before committing to a project.
Can I use it with Singapore's power supply?
The supplied specification mentions 110 V operation with a converter for 220 V. Confirm the exact included power equipment and its rating before connecting the machine to a local outlet.
When is delivery available?
Delivery is available after 7 November 2026. Please enquire with Ban Soon Sewing Machine to confirm the delivery schedule.
