B0421S02A Double Fold Bias Binder 36mm for Babylock Coverstitch, Evolve, Evolution, Ovation & Gloria

The Baby Lock Double Fold Bias Binder (Part Number: B0421S02A) is a premium 36mm (1-1/2") attachment. It automatically folds a 36mm raw fabric strip on both the top and bottom sides, wrapping it around raw fabric edges in a single, streamlined step.
Sewing Applications
-
Necklines and Collars: Adding structured, professional bound edges to garments made of lightweight or medium-weight woven fabrics.
-
Hem and Seam Finishing: Creating beautiful bound hems, jacket cuffs, or finishing internal seams with clean, enclosed margins.
-
Quilting and Home Décor: Applying precise borders to placemats, aprons, and small quilted crafts using chain or cover stitches.
Recommended Application Methods
-
Mounting: Secure the binder to the base plate using the designated guide fixing screws.
-
Preparation: Cut your 36mm fabric strip precisely on a 45-degree true bias. Snip the insertion tip into a "<" shape to assist with loading.
-
Threading: Feed the strip into the funnel with the wrong side facing you. Use tweezers to guide the tape through the slot and turn it 90 degrees under the presser foot.
-
Stitch Selection: Set the machine to a Double Chain Stitch (C3 needle position) or a narrow Cover Stitch (C2-C3).
-
Calibration: Sew a test strip first to verify that the right needle catches the double-folded edge accurately.

User Q&A Scenarios
Q1: The binder keeps missing the bottom layer of the bias tape during sewing. How do I fix this?
Professional Solution: Loosen the mounting attachment screws. Micro-adjust the placement of the binder body slightly to the left or right. Re-tighten when the right needle consistently pierces both the top and bottom folds.
Q2: Can I use heavy canvas or denim strips to make my binding tape?
Professional Solution: No, this attachment is engineered for light to medium-weight fabrics. Thick fabrics like heavy denim will easily jam inside the internal folding funnel.
Q3: The knit fabric I am binding puckers and stretches out as it exits the folder. What am I doing wrong?
Professional Solution: Knit fabrics require careful tension management. Increase your machine’s differential feed ratio slightly to counter fabric stretching, and keep your sewing speed moderate to slow.
Safety Precautions
-
Disconnect Power: Turn off the power switch before screwing on or aligning the attachment to prevent accidental foot pedal activation.
-
Keep Clear of Needles: Never use your fingers or close-up metal tweezers near the needle bar area while the machine is running.
-
Pace Your Stitching: Keep a steady, slow-to-moderate sewing speed to ensure safety and retain complete fabric alignment control.
